Linux/Unix Administrator
Growing telecom services provider is in search of experienced and talented Systems Administrators, to be part of a growing IT organization. Systems Administrators are responsible for support, design, development, and integration as it relates to TTM’s customer and internal applications/ systems. This will include one or more of the following: Hardware evaluation, Data back-up/ recovery management, pro-active system monitoring and trouble-shooting, as well as growth and capacity planning. Additional responsibilities include documentation and support for release management of in-house developed applications.
This position is located in Seattle, WA and is 3-6 months to hire.
Responsibilities:
– Ensure stable implementation and support of company’s enterprise and network monitoring infrastructure
– Keeps informed of the most current technologies and may recommend new hardware and software applications.
– Provide appropriate documentation for building, troubleshooting, installing, recovering, and supporting all corporate LINUX, Solaris, Windows, MySQL, and Messaging platform(s).
– Management and monitoring of backend applications, infrastructure, and operations including capacity monitoring and analysis
– Create associated operating procedures which support rapid development, testing and deployment of new applications or application defect fixes.
– Analyze and tune systems for optimal performance
– Batch/job scheduling and completion monitoring
– Incident response documentation, communication, and coordination
– Perform server management, including service pack and patch rollouts
– Perform daily operational activities around monitoring and maintenance of multi-tiered production systems as well as provide visibility of these activities through administrative tools such as change management, ticketing systems, etc. Provide 24x7x365 rotational support of systems and services. Must have strong troubleshooting and analysis skills, be detail oriented, and have the ability to multi-task and provide out-of-band support.
Requirements / Abilities:
– B.S. Computer Science or related field or combination of education and demonstrated experience.
– 3+ years of systems administrator experience in an IT environment that supports both software development and production.
– Solid experience administering web-server software (IIS, Apache)
– Solid working experience with UNIX based operating systems (Solaris / Linux)
– Solid DBA work experience in managing and administering MySQL and MS SQL (desired) databases
– Solid scripting skills in Shell, PHP, Perl; Experience with Windows 2000/2003/XP (Active Directory and system policies).
– Ability to identify, troubleshoot and resolve hardware and OS related issues.
– Ability to anticipate potential problems, make recommendations and implement solutions with regards to high-availability and change management.
– Must have strong troubleshooting and analysis skills, be detail oriented, and have the ability to multi-task.
– Work experience managing and administering data back-up and recovery
– Experience working in a start-up/ Telecom industry a plus
– Unix or Linux administration certifications/ Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Certification is desired ;
