Senior Network Administrator
SR. NETWORK ADMINISTRATOR
SUMMARY OF ACCOUNTABILITIES: The Senior Network Administrator is responsible for all trouble shooting, maintenance of existing WAN, LAN, WLAN and VPN communications as well as recommending and designing new WAN, LAN, WLAN and VPN utilizing Cisco switches/routers/concentrators and Avaya IP Telephony environments. He or she is also occasionally called upon to provide direction to the other Network Administrators on the team. As a Senior Admin, he or she makes decisions and takes action to help ensure the stability of network infrastructure.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Provide technical expertise and platform leadership in areas of Cisco WAN, LAN, WLAN and VPN technologies, as well as integration to Avaya IP Telephony.
- Configure, implement, and troubleshoot a variety of Cisco Hardware/Software Products, including: VPN Concentrators, Firewalls, Routers, WLAN and Switches.
- Proactively manage the service and security requirements of these systems.
- Assist in the management of other data, server and security systems as dictated by the environment.
- Work with customer service specialists and other infrastructure support personnel to resolve customer service calls within SLA guidelines and department standards.
- Perform advanced monitoring and reporting related to network systems.
- Develop tactical and strategic plans for the network resources based on trends, growth, available metrics, etc.
- Coordinate change planning and formal change control process to systems in order to eliminate customer impact and to ensure that availability SLAs are met.
- On-Going Review of Router and Switches Infrastructure.
- Project Planning.
- Documentation as Required.
- Assistance in the Development of Standards, Guidelines and Policies.
- New Technology Research.
- Help to ensure 99.999% network availability to all aspects of the network, domestic and international sites.
- 3rd-Level Help Desk Ticket Resolution.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 5 Years Experience is required with Cisco VPN Concentrators, Firewalls, Routers, WLAN, Switches, and Load balancers. Strong hands-on routing knowledge of network/internet protocols/services such as SONET, ATM, Frame-Relay, MPLS, DS3, T1, GigE, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, DNS, IPSec, and NAT.
- Experience with Network documentation and monitoring tools such as: Visio, HP Network Node Manager, Solarwinds, Network Physics, Sniffer, PRTG and Cisco Works. Experience with Avaya IP Telephony a plus, but not required.
- Knowledge of electronic data transmission principles, LAN networks, routing fundamentals, business applications, and trouble shooting techniques is essential.
- Knowledge of standard cabling technologies such as UTP (Category 3, 5, 5e and 6), Fiber Optic (single mode, multi mode), and Coaxial.
- Must Have a High School Diploma and Some Post-High School Education (Associates Degree or Better is Preferred).
- CCNA Certification Required, CCNP a plus, but not required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft NT/2000 Server or Higher.
- Should have the Ability to Work Independently and be Able to Establish Priorities.
- Must have Excellent Troubleshooting and Communication Skills.
- Must have the ability to work in a fast paced dynamic and growing IT environment and the flexibility to work with a wide range of technologies.
- Good Organizational Skills.
