Network Engineer
Job Duties:
Participate in a team of engineers that perform analytical, technical and administrative work in the planning, design and installation of new and existing communication systems. Collect, analyze and determine required system, communication or service functionality. Install, upgrade, and maintain existing voice and data communication systems and services. Trouble shoot complicated network issues and work with cross functional teams in setting voice and network standards regarding new technologies and applications.
Administer and maintain a network of Cisco Call Managers and Cisco VoIP solutions.
Administer Cisco Unity voicemail solutions.
Work in a team atmosphere, providing support as needed to fulfill requests.
Participate in and/or lead special projects.
Effectively apply policies and procedures.
Maintain contact with customers to ensure that their expectations are understood and met.
Collaborate with peers, managers, and customers to ensure business goals are being met.
Support an awareness of quality within team, and maintain the quality of services, deliverables, and content.
Respond to operational issues within defined areas of responsibility while still progressing on project work.
Identify obstacles to solution plans, business goals, or implementation.
Perform related duties as assigned or requested.
Qualifications:
Degree in telecommunications / networking, related field or equivalent experience. 5 years related work experience with emphasis on telecommunications technologies preferred. CCNA / CCNP, Cisco IP Telephony Design Specialist, Call Manager / Unity certifications preferred. TDM experience a definite plus.
Extensive knowledge of PBX and voicemail systems. Cisco Call Manager and Unity experience and networking skills will be key components of this position. Must be able to work independently, with good problem solving skills. Must be able to deal appropriately with confidential information.
Thorough understanding of Cisco Voice and Data hardware/applications including Call Manager, Unity ,switching and routing products. Understanding of WAN technologies including frame relay and MPLS are a plus. Candidate should have experience in using network-troubleshooting tools. Ability to design configure, install and manage multi vendor voice and data networks. Understanding of VOIP, switching and routing methodologies.
Understanding of project management concepts and a working knowledge of Word and Excel. Excellent organizational skills.
Must have effective interpersonal skills, including excellent oral and written communications skills. Be able to communication concepts and requirements to non-technical people as well as technical people.
