Lead Software Developer
TEKsystems is currently looking for a Lead .Net Developer, preferably C#, who is looking to advance their career with one of Aurora's largest employers. Our client is currently involved with the administration of third party claims. The company was founded to provide a full range of administrative services marketed by BCBSIL. They have operated as a single client vendor to the Consumer Markets division. They are currently in the process of growing as they tackle the task of bringing on a new state.
Summary:
Responsible for the definition of the technical and functional application architecture for Solution Development. Acts as a technical expert to mentor the development team(s) on tools, process and technology. Participates in designing and delivering solutions to business problems through participation in projects and/or package selection. Must be able to communicate at multiple levels within the organization, from architectural vision through implementation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- work effectively with the entire IT department, especially infrastructure and quality assurance
- responsible for the definition and the implementation of the architecture, in order to achieve the necessary consistency regarding the application architecture
- supervise the compliance with the architecture and architecture standards during development and maintenance
- provide leadership within the solution development team(s) acting as a mentor and/or advisor
- responsible for the configuration, deployment and maintenance of the development environment
- responsible for the definition of and oversight for adherence to development standards
- advise project teams during implementation phase
- deliver technical coaching to the development team
- take ownership of difficult components of a solution, whether that be a technically difficult component (e.g. code level) or a politically difficult component (working with vendors or a business area)
- participate in understanding business needs and the translation of those needs into requirements and ultimately delivery of business value
- utilize a feedback loop to continuously improve the capabilities of the solution development function
- coordinate the selection and application of tools to improve the effectiveness of the development teams and other IT groups
- ensure that the proper level of documentation is created for the specification of the architecture and on-going adherence to the goals of the architecture
- work with solution development manager to provide feedback and suggestions for team improvement Technical Requirements
- deep software development experience with at least 3 - 5 years experiencing developing solutions with .NET; preferably C#
- 2 - 3 years database experience; preferably SQL
- experience selecting development tools
- experience in software architecture
- proven ability to champion implementation of software methodologies in an IT department
- experience with Java and other web-development languages is a plus
- introductory knowledge of Cobol is a plus (to understand legacy applications)
