TEKsystems has partnered with a major pharmaceutical company to offer a Senior Oracle DBA position.Responsibilities:
An opportunity exists within the TSG team for a bright, energetic DBA. The cutting edge technologies used to design our market leading products will require the candidate to have strong technical skills and a high aptitude for assembling similar or dissimilar data to expedite solutions for Mission Critical applications. Candidate must be able to compete and thrive in a high-paced, high-pressure environment, while providing database design, administration, and support.
Position Description:
Strong customer service skill, well spoken and strong overall communication skills!
Planning, coordinating and administering computerized databases, including base definition, structure, documentation, long range requirements, operational guidelines and protection.
- Ensures accuracy and completeness of data in master files and various support tools such as base dictionaries.
- Codes complex programs and derives logical processes on technical platforms.
- Participates in quality assurance and develops test application code in client server environment.
- Assists with implementation at customer sites as needed.
- Actively involved with creation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of internal development and QA environments as needed.
- Follow established processes as well as develop, document, implement and enforce adherence to database and data management process and procedures.
- Responsible for devising negotiating, and defending the tables and fields provided in the database.
- Responsible for managing standardized data.
- Adapts business requirements, developed by modeling/development of staff and systems engineers, and develops the data, database specifications, table and element attributes for an application.
- Determines appropriateness of data for storage and optimum storage
organization.
- Determines how tables relate to each other and how fields interact with the tables for a relational model.
- Exhibits strong interactive skills in a diverse setting working closely with software developers, system analysts and other database administrators
- Documents and communicates database designs.
- Establishes and maintains security and integrity controls. Formulates and monitors policies, procedures and standards relating to database management.
- Establishes database management systems, standards, guidelines and quality assurance for database deliverables, such as conceptual design, logical database, capacity planning, external data interface specification, data loading plan, data maintenance plan and security policy.
Requirements:
- 4-year degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years experience in database administration.
- Well versed in shell scripting as well as PL/SQL.
- Experience with data modeling tools and data modeling process.
- In-depth knowledge of databases, specifically Oracle. Oracle 9I or 10G
preferred.
- Experience optimizing Oracle 10g RDBMS.
- Experience with ASM and RAC desirable.
- Broad knowledge of Linux/Unix server platforms.
- Experience in data extraction, migration and disaster recovery.
- Process driven and detail oriented
