UNIX Scripter Engineer
Our Client is in search of a UNIX Support Engineer for a Contract to Permanent opportunity in their Miami Data Center.
The qualified candidate will be able to provide the following. Remote System support for major HP-UX/Solaris/Suse Linux environment supporting over 6000 internal users and external client base all over the world. Utilize managed middleware services via BEA tuxedo and ensuring implicating integrity via Veritas high availability cluster management platform. Responsible for over 300 Superdome and Linux HA nodes providing 24 hr support for national/international travel customers. Conformed heavily to ITIL standards. This position has no supervisory, payroll or operating budget guidelines Service Support for UNIX and Linux based servers Lead project and migration support, as necessary, Effective analytical thinking skills for operational problems Supports, implements and refines best practices Promotes value awareness of problem impact Able to make sound decisions and issue coherent directives to solve system problems.
I. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENTS General Support Incident Management to restore normal service operation as quickly as possible with minimum disruption to the business when an incident occurs Problem Management to determine and resolve with temporary workarounds or permanent fixes the root cause of problems causing one or more incidents Daily 25% Performance and Tuning Data protection and security Performance monitoring and system tuning Consulting and support for application programming groups Implementation, and maintenance for system management applications and tools Ongoing 25% Projects
II. QUALIFICATIONS: Job Requirements (i.e. skills, experience): Experience with clustered HA configurations Experience with Symantec/Veritas clusterware and volume manager Experience with RDMS and in particular Oracle especially RAC would be a plus Minimum 5 years in UNIX/LINUX systems administration Background in Airline/Travel Industry preferable Specific Knowledge / Skills: Solid UNIX/LINUX systems skills (HP-UX in particular and LINUX). Solid Shell programming skills and preferably C/C++. Proven Analytic/Problem-Solving skills Strong knowledge of networking protocols and concepts, LAN, WAN, Routers and Firewalls Strong team player Above average oral and written communications skills Above average performance in present or previous position for not less than 1 year Self motivated Technologies Involved: - BEA tuxedo - Veritas Cluster Manager - BMC Patrol - HP Openview - PHP/Mysql/Sqlite
