SQL Database Administrator
SUMMARY
The DBA will be responsible for the optimization, maintenance and upgrade of the SQL Server database implemented within H&H, most notably the document and records management systems (iManage).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
· Responsible for the ongoing database growth, optimization and maintenance of client/server applications within the firm. This includes formulating policies, procedures and standards relating to database management.
· Monitoring SQL Jobs
· Research and apply (when appropriate) security patches, firmware and BIOS updates to operating systems and client/server hardware components.
· Do restores on db
· Troubleshooting
· Run Backups and Replications; TOOLS they use: “Double Take” for the domestic offices; “Falcon Store” for the DC Office and “Symantec” for the International offices. IF this person can use one backup tool they can learn the others.
· Run Reports
· Administer the iManage tool from the SQL Server db. They will train on iManage and this person does not have to have this
· Run SQL and T~SQL Queries
· Monitor “MOM” (Microsoft Operations Management) Alerts (e.g. Job timed out, etc…) and work with the Network Engineering team to resolve issues as they arise.
· Deletion of Temp Files
· Running SQL Tables
· Ensure technical documentation and DB statistics (i.e., database growth, disk space, etc.) are up-to-date for every client/server database implementation.
· Provide advanced level support to the User Support Center on issues relating to client/server applications.
· Interface with vendor technical support to assist in problem resolution and general systems analysis.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
3+ years of DBA experience, intermediate to advanced level knowledge of Microsoft SQL 2000 & 2005 including Transact SQL, 2+ years experience working with Dell and Compaq server class hardware, firm understanding of client/server technology, database principles including management, security and workflow processes, excellent organizational and communication skills, and strong orientation to a team environment.
