Desktop Support Specialist
Our client, a large publication house is looking for an experienced, energetic and self-motivated IT Support professional with strong communication, client service and technical support skills to join our IT support group. Candidate will provide phone and desk side technical support for IT systems and networking used throughout the corporate office as well as desktop and laptop configuration and imaging.

Duties:
-Performs all levels of help desk support (80% Deskside/20% Phone support) -Imaging of Laptops & Desktops -Adding & Deleting users within Active Directory -Basic Networking troubleshooting and connectivity -Plans and executes installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of complex problems pertaining to PCs, security, networks, software, PDAs, phones, and other equipment as needed -Assists other technicians and IT team members with installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting problems -Answers, evaluates and prioritizes incoming telephone calls, voice mail, email, and in-person requests for assistance; -Assists in managing the user environment actively monitoring corporate servers and applications -Monitors and report on daily system backups -Communicates status (both verbally and written) to management other technical staff, and end users -Provides technical support to other business units via telephone or local visits on as-needed basis -Prepares and update technical documentation -Provide technical and videoconferencing support and setup for events and meetings, including board meetings -Performs basic end-user software training
Required Experience:
-2 to 3+ years of recent desktop and/or help desk support experience, including PC, laptop and application support -1 year maintaining/building/supporting servers running Windows 2000 or Windows 2003; -(PLUS) At least one relevant technical certification (i.e. Comptia, Microsoft, etc.) desired -Mid Level knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite XP/2003, including PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Outlook -Broad experience with desktop software and operating systems such as Windows XP/2000, Blackberry devices, Symantec Anti-Virus and Ghost; -Demonstrated proficiency in PC architecture, operating systems, software and other specialized equipment such as scanners, printers, telephones, videoconferencing, PDAs, etc. -Able to perform basic system administration tasks in an Active Directory network -Experience using a help desk trouble ticketing system (REMEDY, MAGIC, TRACKIT!, etc.) -Experience with remote access technologies (i.e. VPNs, RSA tokens, WiFi) and ability to troubleshoot problems over the phone;
