Manager of Infrastructure Technologies
We are currently looking to identify and hire an Infrastructure Manager for a current customer in San Diego, CA.
Client is looking for candidates that come from a large infrastructure (voice / data / data center) environment. This is a permanent position with a very well known, stable company.
Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to the long -term planning that ensures network capacity meets current and future network requirements at the headquarters location, as well as, for remote sites, and includes planning for remote hardware, necessary communication facilities, and anticipating network loads. The Infrastructure Manager is responsible for all aspects of daily operation of both network and telecommunication environments, either as a separate data and voice networks, or as a converged network. Analyzes the needs of departments and establishes the priorities for network design and implementation to develop new and/or modify the company’s networks and applications based on the continually changing needs of the business. Ensures business continuity through the implementation of best practice security principles to prevent confidential data from being exposed to unauthorized users. Consults with customers, senior management and peers to gain a clear understanding of business needs. Works with other business units, both inside of IT as well as outside of IT, to recommend and implement technical solutions that meet established objectives; acts as a mentor to team members.
- Directs technical staff on complex hardware, network security, and transmission systems for LAN/WAN and Internet. - Directs project plans for the implementation of new telecommunications (video conferencing, phone systems) technology and systems. - Directs the activities of department staff, coordinates with vendors involved in providing data/communications activities; supervises network activity of remote locations. - Conducts tactical planning activities for LAN/WAN and Internet development and implementation, including transmission media, system architecture and general technology guidelines. - Oversees the planning, design, implementation, organization, and operation of the company’s data communications network. - Selects, develops and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function. - Identifies and evaluates technical solutions addressing both short and long term business initiatives. - Provides technical expertise for complex infrastructure related issues and maintains the stability of daily operations. - Conducts analysis and preparation of financial budgets. - Ensures that the network is running at optimum speed and efficiency through monitoring and optimization by providing immediate feedback to Project Managers. - Provides technical support regarding network operations, problems, and malfunctions; performs related duties as required.
Education
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent work experience, is required (Master's degree or equivalent is desirable).
Experience
- At least 5 years experience in design and implementation of large enterprise networks. - Minimum 5 years experience in a Cisco based network. - Minimum 5 years experience in an enterprise level environment supporting multiple, diverse sites. - Cisco certification a plus - Ability to mentor and supervise the completion of complex network administration tasks. - Demonstrated experience at working well with senior and peer management, all levels of end users, and peers in high-pressure situations and complex environments.
